Bow set for Feng Xiaogang's first rom-com
November 17, 2008 Shot for $8 million in Beijing and Hangzhou, China, and Hokkaido, Japan, "If You Are the One" stars comedian Ge You ("The Banquet") as a successful entrepreneur who seeks a mate via an online personal ad. The film is a departure for Feng, said a spokeswoman for Huayi, the longtime backer of the director of such contemporary Chinese classics as "Cell Phone" (2003). Media Asia in Hong Kong co-produced the film with Huayi Brothers, which will distribute in China on the wide scale Huayi did in 2007 with Feng's last film, the war epic "Assembly."
